Where am I? I am near Santa Cruz, Bolivia which is in the very center of Bolivia (think of it as an equilateral triangle whose apex points to 11:00). Bolivia is pretty much in the center of South America, bordered to the east by Brazil and Paraguay, to the south by Chile and Argentina, and to the north by Peru (here's a map). The clinic, which is called the Centro Medico Humberto Para, is about 1.5 hours away from Santa Cruz, but I have no idea in which direction! What am I doing in Bolivia? The short story is volunteering at the Centro Medico Humberto Para. What exactly that will entail is very much up in the air right now. My goals for the summer were to get some clinical experience, learn and practice Spanish in a clinical setting, and have an adventure. I think Bolivia will satisfy all three of those and more!
