I've got to plug what was one of the best restaurants I've been to in Chicago. Piattini serves Italian food tapas-style (my Italian-speaking roommate pointed out that "piattini" means "small plates"). While not quite like other tapas restaurants where you often order lots of small entree-type dishes, here we choose two salads, two meat entrees and a dessert, skipping the pasta course. The mista mixed-berry vinagrette salad was fantastic, but the real deal was the entrees: lambchops with spinach risotto and bistecca with a red wine reduction and mashed potatoes. It was just the right amount of food and while a little expensive if you order wine, the prices were great for the quality of the meal.

Congrats on getting comments! and thanks for the recommendation. One of the reasons I never go out for Italian food is because the portions are so ridiculously huge, and I like to try a little of everything.
