I think I've figured out why seeing advertisements for Kelly Osbourne's new album seemed so strange. Her promotional pictures show her all primped, wearing about seven pounds of makeup and sporting hair that looks like it was coiffed by about 12 skilled artists. But up until this record was released, her public face was that of a whiny, bratty, typical teenage kid. We've seen the "real" Kelly Osbourne, so seeing her as a pop star makes it look like she is just playing dress-up.
I guess this is why celebrities have publicists, eh? The image that people put out there has a lot of do with their success. If we saw Eminem on TV every week taking his daughter to the zoo, going shoe shopping with her, and reading her bedtime stories, wouldn't his popular image of a angry white man be shattered, making people think he was even more of a phoney?
