My Acid Trip Mornings

On the plaza outside my office complex, Fox News often films live segments for their morning broadcast. You know, that local-interest-light-hearted-transition-between-talking-about-rape-and-murder-filler kind of news. The thing is, the people they are filming are always really odd. Or, maybe they just seem odd when surrounded by a sea of bleary-eyed urban professionals at 8:45 AM. Some recent scenes:

1. The cast of the Wizard of Oz, in full costume, singing a medley of songs from the movie.
2. A man barbecuing ribs, steaks and chicken (not appealing that early in the morning).
3. Hootchie-dressed 15-year-olds gyrating and singing to vaguely Britany Spears-sounding pop music rhythms. The more sequins on their costumes, apparently, the better. (This type of scene has occurred at least twice).
4. Overly-hip wannabe rock starts cranking out bass-heavy alternative and funk music.
5. People dress as vegetables, including squash, carrots, potatoes and broccoli, holding hands and dancing around in a circle.
